CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

The sponsorship program at the Children's Museum of the Highlands offers the business community a chance to help the museum and increase the business's visibility in the community.  Thousands of visitors pass through the museum each year, playing and learning in the differentexhibits.   The corporate sponsorship program takes advantage of those visitors exploring the museum by providing signage at different exhibits naming different corporations as sponsors of that exhibit.

The original program is designed as an on going sponsorship with the corporation pledging a donation of $1,000.00 per year.  In return for that donation a sign is placed above an exhibit area denoting the sponsorship by that corporation and our newsletter lists each corporate sponsor in its bimonthly publication.

We also offer a GOLD level sponsorship that identifies a further level of commitment to the museum of $2,000 or more per year.  The gold level sponsorship receives special recognition on corporate sponsorship signs and in our newsletter. Our latest program is a PLATINUM level sponsorship for people that would like to donate $5,000 or more yearly to the museum.  Our platinum sponsors receive not only a sign in the museum but also front page billing on our newsletters.  In addition, all advertising will feature the platinum sponsors name or logo.

As a corporate sponsor you will be offered a seat on the Children's Museums' Board of Directors.  You may fill it from someone on your staff, yourself or decline the seat. You have the option of how much you would like to get involved in the decision-making concerning the museum.

The donation is tax deductible within the limits of the law and the best part is the knowledge that you are helping our children, improving their ability to learn and encouraging tomorrow's future leaders.

Help us teach children that education is fun and useful. We believe our children are our future.  If we can instill in them a positive attitude about leaning and life, then the future will be brighter for everyone.

AUDIENCE

The Children's Museum of the Highlands is the only museum serving children in five counties, Highlands, Hendry, Okeechobee, Hardee and DeSoto.  These five counties, with a total population of 190,625, have twenty-five schools totaling over 20,000 students.  The museum is also a destination for preschools, home schooled children, day care facilities and families with children through age 12.

The mission of the museum focuses on preschool and early elementary age children.  Success in reaching the museum's potential audience is shown by the attendance figures for the first years of operation.  The first year's total was 9,000 visitors, the second year ended at over 10,000 people. After twelve years, the museum had received over 178,000 visitors from all over the world.  Museum membership now stands at over 200 families.

Middle and high school student volunteers staff the museum after school, on Saturdays and during the summer.  In addition to floor work, these volunteers are given the opportunity to help with designing and improving exhibits.  When they finally do leave to get paying jobs, the volunteers have the ability to take on responsibility and will become a vital part of our work force, our future.

The museum publishes a brochure and a bi-monthly newsletter as well as placing ads in local tourist guides.  In the fall of 1994 the museum started distributing teacher guides about the museum to all of the schools for use in the classroom before and after field trips.  These guides are updated yearly to reflect changes in exhibits and policies. The guide also includes information about how the different exhibits teach various concepts in compliance with the Sunshine State Standards.

Free passes are given to area counseling centers to aid in their work with at risk families.  Free passes are also given to Big Brothers/Big Sisters, area foster families, the Highlands County Safe House for abused families and area schools for use by guidance counselors.  In an effort to expand the segments reached, every child that comes in with an organized field trip is given a free pass for one admission to come back another time.
